Mayor Carolyn Goodman honored the country duo of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley from Florida Georgia Line at Las Vegas City Hall on Tuesday.
The mayor declared Dec. 11 “Florida Georgia Line Day” commemorating the band’s limited residency kicking off at Planet Hollywood hotel-casino.
FGL blasted into the music scene in 2012 with “Cruise” and the band with BeBe Rexha found themselves back on the top of the charts in 2018 with “Meant to Be.”
Hubbard and Kelley received a proclamation from the mayor and Goodman also received a special token of appreciation from the band – a bottle of peach-pecan whiskey produced by the group.
Indeed, even before Florida Georgia Line made that big appearance on Wednesday night for the second show of their new Las Vegas residency — Florida Georgia Line Live From Las Vegas — it was clear this would not have been a run of the mill nation show. There were blinding lasers radiating through the group, music sufficiently noisy to make heroes redden and even a 12-year-old opening act.
In any case, by one way or another, the entire display worked superbly. Truth be told, for the following 75 minutes, the show was not so much show but rather more gathering, with FGL’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley playing clench hand knocking has.
