It was announced today through various news sources that CES will be making its return to Las Vegas in January of 2022. The yearly Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is getting back to the as a live, attended event in 2022, after the 2021 event had to go online simply due to the Covid pandemic. In any case, producer, Consumer Technology Association (CTA) said Wednesday that the meeting will see participation numbers cut for the January 2022 occasion in Las Vegas. Prior to the pandemic, CES was the biggest yearly show in Las Vegas and in 2020 drew around 170,000 participants – with around 4,000 organizations displaying their innovation and devices.

“We’re thrilled to return to Las Vegas — home to CES for more than 40 years — and look forward to seeing many new and returning faces,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. “Hundreds of executives have told us how much they need CES to meet new and existing customers, find partners, reach media and discover innovation.”

CTA expects 75,000 attendees next year and so far 1,000 companies have committed to the show, with more expected, said Jean Foster, senior vice president of marketing and communications.

When Covid shut down the convention industry in 2020, not only were casino workers laid off but so were all of the union/non-union technical and construction positions that support large conventions like CES and others. These positions pay from $75,000 to over $100,000 per year. Most of these individuals are homeowners and many had to move. Some lost their houses. Most have been on unemployment, which is a pittance compared to their usual income.

The fact CES is returning, though to limited capacity, this will be a huge boost to the economy and real estate market.
