Gibson Springs is home to the Stephanie and Marks Street corridors, where you’ll find every major shopping outlet from Lowe’s, Home Depot, Target, and Walmart. Tourists and locals from around the city visit the location to find designer deals at Nordstrom Rack and DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, or maybe thumb through the offerings inside one of the few remaining Barnes & Noble bookstores.
If you prefer indoor browsing, this is where you’ll find the Galleria at Sunset, one of the premier shopping malls in the Las Vegas Valley, with over 100 stores and dining options for all occasions.
If you happen to be in the market for a new car, the Henderson Valley Automall is part of Gibson Springs. People from all over the Las Vegas Valley come here for new car deals, shopping at the dealerships for 27 different brands from 20 independent dealers. As a resident, you can cruise by any time. Oh, and by the way, the local DMV is also in Gibson Springs.
Gibson Springs Parks
Right within the borders of Gibson Springs you’ll find some of the city’s most popular destination parks, such as the Cornerstone Park, and the adjacent Arroyo Grande Sports Complex.
The 100-acre Cornerstone Park is a scenic oasis where you can get lost in the feeling of stepping into a small-town environment, engaging in activities like feeding the ducks in the 31-acre lake inside it. Other public amenities include wide–paved walking and biking paths, exercise course, exercise stairs, lighted basketball and volleyball courts, corporate plaza area, open grass area, picnic shelters, pavilions, warming kitchen, restrooms, and more.
The 56-acre Arroyo Grande Sports Complex boasts lots of sports facilities plus a playground, a disc golf course, and various trails. The complex houses lighted ball fields, basketball courts, bicycle terrain amenities, horseshoe pits, an open turf area, picnic shelters, a playground, a dog park, and restrooms. From this park, you can take the connecting Pittman Wash Trail for an extensive stroll, jog, or maybe a bike ride through Henderson.
There’s also the more intimate Trail Canyon Park that features a playground, basketball and tennis courts, horseshoe pits, open grass area, picnic shelters, barbecues, and restrooms.
Just a few minutes away, you can also enjoy the historic Whitney Mesa Park Recreation Area featuring the Whitney Mesa Nature Preserve. This park is home to many unique geologic formations, an active stream, and diverse flora and fauna. Park amenities include a 1-mile trail that’s partially ADA accessible, as well as interpretive centers, and educational kiosks. You’ll also find a play area, picnic shelters, barbecues, and restrooms.
Gibson Springs Recreation
If you want to go a little farther afield, Gibson Springs borders both the I-515 and I-215, so you can easily get to the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area, Boulder City, Lake Las Vegas, Lake Mead, or the Hoover Dam.
In fact, residents can quickly and easily access the entire Las Vegas area. It’s just a 20-minute drive to the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, and less than 10 miles to the Harry Reid International Airport.
