The Las Vegas/ Henderson area is becoming quite the hockey town. First the Golden Knights, then the public skating arena being build in downtown Henderson and now the American Hockey League is proposing building an arena at the site of the Henderson Pavilion.
An article at the KTNV website states, “this new arena would house the Golden Knights minor league team and would be constructed at the site of the current Henderson pavilion. The City of Henderson was already looking at building an enclosed facility after the Pavilion’s canopy structure was severely damaged from bad weather. The arena would seat 6,000 people and could host concerts, performances, and graduations along with hosting the AHL team.”
Speaking at the Henderson “State of the City” address, Kerry Bubolz confirmed the location of the new arena for the AHL team and stated the team has already taken over 5,300 deposits for the new AHL franchise. Until the new arena is build, the new team would play at the Orleans Arena.
The city will have a public meeting on Monday, March 9.
It will be at the Sun City Macdonald Ranch Clubhouse from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m..
